Originally conceived in the mid-1800s to honor Tsarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich (who died in Nice), the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral wasn't completed until the early 20th century.

The event also marked a poignant return for King Charles, who missed last year’s services due to cancer treatment.
