Salvador Perez exited the game with a left elbow contusion after being hit in the elbow in the third inning by Braves RHP Spencer Strider. Perez appeared to be in a lot of pain after the play, but he didn’t leave the game until the top of the fifth inning.

Injuries explain a lot about this miserable Braves season. No one wants to hear it, because underperforming hitters and cost-cutting bullpen moves are factors, too. But we’ve reached the point where injuries matter at least as much as those reasons.
