The Trump administration launched an investigation into the University of California, Berkeley, on Friday centered on foreign funding, making it the latest university to be targeted by the federal government.

After first coming after Harvard University over alleged secret funding from China, the Trump administration said it will next target UC Berkeley, stepping up enforcement of an obscure federal rule.

UC Berkeley acknowledged that it failed to report millions of dollars in foreign government funding between June and July 2023.
