The European Union is planning to crack down on foreign goods shipped by e-commerce marketplaces like Shein, Temu, and even Amazon, according to a draft proposal reviewed by the Financial Times.

The EU plans to make ecommerce platforms such as Temu, Shein and Amazon Marketplace liable for dangerous or illegal products sold online, in a crackdown on the flood of imports from China.

A high number of “products that are unsafe, counterfeit, or otherwise noncompliant leads to serious safety and health risks,” the draft proposal said, per the FT.
