Alabama has set an execution date for an inmate who dropped his appeals this summer and asked to be put to death.

Alabama is set to execute James Osgood in the period between midnight April 24 and 6 a.m. April 25 for the murder of Tracy Lynn Brown. Osgood was convicted in a case were he was accused of repeatedly raping Brown before and while he slashed her throat multiple times, the Montgomery Advertiser previously reported.

Gov. Kay Ivey has scheduled an execution for late April, the second of the year. James Osgood will be executed by lethal injection on the evening of April 24, according to the governor’s office. Ivey set an execution period between midnight on April 24 and 6 a.

The Alabama Attorney General’s Office on Feb. 11 had asked the Alabama Supreme Court to approve Osgood’s execution. The court approved that request on March 11.
