The GT500 SS used the same engine as the GT40 racer ... Chevy's 427 engine wasn't offered as an option in the '67 Camaro, so Yenko instead used the top-of-the-line 396 ci vehicle as a base.

Just 54 Yenko Camaros were made in '67, making it a real unicorn even in comparison to the L78 version. Feeling the Camaro had even more potential, Yenko's replaced the L78 with Chevy's 427 ci L72 V8.
