Over 3,000 dogs from across the country and around the globe descend on New York City for the 149th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, taking place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. The 149th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show started Saturday at the Javits Center in New York City. CBS News New York's Kristie Keleshian met some of its top dogs and those who are just there for fun.

It begins Saturday morning at the Javits Center convention hall with agility and obedience championships and some demonstration events, including Westminster’s first experiment with flyball. That’s essentially a canine relay race that involves running a course of jumps and retrieving a ball.

Day 1 of the 149th Annual Westminster Dog Show did not disappoint—hundreds of dogs across four different breed groups strutted their stuff on Monday in hopes of keeping their Best in Show dreams alive.
