Fever star Sophie Cunningham hit with third WNBA fine after Paige Bueckers comment on her podcast
The WNBA fined Sophie Cunningham again after the Indiana Fever star criticized referees on her podcast for giving Dallas Wings' Paige Bueckers too many whistles.
After spending her first six WNBA seasons with the Mercury, Cunningham was traded to the Fever over the offseason. Through her 30 games played with Indiana, the former Missouri Tigers guard averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 steals per game, asserting herself as the team's enforcer.
Sophie Cunningham took to social media after the announcement, sending Lindsey Cunningham a note on the family. “Girl gang getting bigger,” Sophie Cunningham said. Sophie Cunningham and Lindsey Cunningham played alongside each other in college with the Missouri Tigers.
Indiana Fever star guard Sophie Cunningham has unfortunately been ruled out for the rest of the 2025 WNBA season after suffering a knee injury.
The Indiana Fever are coming off a big win over the weekend against the Connecticut Sun, rallying back from a 21-point deficit to force overtime and ultimately secure the victory, improving to 19-16 on the season.
