Officials say a Ukrainian drone has struck an industrial plant deep inside Russia, injuring several people and causing a fire.

Ukraine used drones to attack a base where Russia keeps its Su-34 aircraft, which can be armed with highly destructive glide bombs. An Army investigator found that at least one jumpmaster "lied to me" about a key safety inspection prior to Spc. Matthew Perez's death on Sept. 12, 2024.

The overnight attack was one of the largest on Ukraine and included strikes in the western part of the country, which is hit less often.
