The Switch 2 has plenty of potential, but certain important aspects of the console have yet to be revealed, and could be very important.

Even before Nintendo unveiled the Switch 2 in all its glory, one of the few confirmed things we knew was that it'd be backwards compatible with existing Switch games, and the company has now stated that this decision was made since it was "the best direction" for consumers.

The simple answer is yes. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with most Nintendo Switch games. That includes both the digital and physical versions of those games. More details on which games will be playable on the Switch 2 will be made available by Nintendo later on.
