Marvel is set to recast characters in its upcoming X-Men franchise and Tony Stark, a character that became synonymous with Robert Downey Jr in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After the conclusion of Marvel's Secret Wars in 2027, the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it will be forever changed. "Reboot is a scary word,” Marvel boss Kevin Feige told Variety in a massive new interview.
"As we as we kick off phase six with with 'Fantastic Four,' and as everybody knows it ends with 'Secret Wars,'" Feige said.
Doomsday, due in 2026, will feature some Marvel figures who have been in the game even longer than Robert Downey Jr., as Iron Man. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will return as Professor X and Magneto, having first played the roles for 2000’s X-Men movie.
