A 25-year-old DOGE staffer was accidentally given permissions to edit the Treasury Department's payments system, according to court records.

A 25-year-old associate of Elon Musk and former Treasury Department employee was "mistakenly" given the ability to make changes to a sensitive federal payment system, officials with the Bureau of the Fiscal Service disclosed in a series of court filings late Tuesday.

Prior to resigning from the Treasury Department, Marko Elez at one point had "read/write permissions" to the Secure Payment System, Joseph Gioeli III indicated in a court filing.

A 25-year-old DOGE staffer, who resigned after being linked to racist social media posts, was briefly given edit access to the Treasury Department’s payment system.
