A young girl in Texas died by suicide after being bullied about her family’s immigration’s status, according to her family.

GAINESVILLE – Hundreds gathered in downtown Gainesville Saturday to mourn the life of a Texas girl who died by suicide. Her family said classmates bullied her by threatening to call immigration agents on her parents.

Jocelynn Rojo Carranza, 11, died by suicide after she was allegedly bullied by other students about her family's immigration status, according to her mother.

In late January, students at Jocelynn Rojo Carranza’s school spread rumors and speculation that immigration authorities would deport families of students at the largely Hispanic school, according to a parent and another student.
