Dragon, lion and snake dancers took to the streets of Chinatown once again to celebrate the Lunar New Year and welcome the year of the snake on a snowy Sunday morning.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Chicago’s Chinatown Sunday afternoon to celebrate the end of the Lunar New Year, a 15-day holiday that marks the beginning of a new year in the lunisolar calendar,

The Year of the Snake, according to the Chinese Zodiac, starts on Jan. 29 and lasts until the 2026 Lunar New Year's Eve on Feb. 12, 2026. Many people around the United States enjoy celebrating with family gatherings, and cultural celebrations in schools or in their communities.
