Lulu Roman, the 'Hee Haw' personality who went from drug-using comedic go-go dancer to gospel singer, has died in Bellingham, Wash., at age 78.

"To all of you who feel her loss, know that her love was genuine and she is smiling down on you," her son Damon said in a statement.

Lulu Roman, who found fame as a comedic actress and singer on the TV series "Hee Haw" over a run that lasted from 1969 till 1993, died Wednesday at age 78. No cause of death was immediately given, apart from it being revealed that Roman passed away unexpectedly.
