After years of war, a shattered state apparatus and foreign meddling, Libya is once again in the crosshairs of US policy, this time as a potential dumping ground for migrants rejected by Donald Trump’s administration.

Experts, human rights workers and lawyers criticized reports of plans to deport migrants from the U.S. to Libya.

Migrants in Texas who were told they would be deported to Libya sat on a military airfield tarmac for hours on Wednesday, unsure of what would happen next, an attorney for one of the men told Reuters.
