A man accused of stealing a purse from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has been charged in federal court with aggravated identity theft, robbery and fraud.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the theft of U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's purse at a Washington restaurant, the Secret Service said on Sunday, and Noem said the individual has been living in the United States illegally.

Two people were arrested for stealing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's purse containing cash and sensitive items, with the primary suspect being a "career criminal" and in the U.S. illegally.
