A sequel to 'My Best Friend's Wedding' is in development at Sony, with 'Past Lives' and 'Materialists' writer Celine Song on board to write.

Collider first reported the project. “My Best Friend’s Wedding” sequel is in early development at Sony Pictures. Song is not in talks to direct, though. IndieWire has reached out to Sony for comment.

A sequel to popular romantic comedy My Best Friend's Wedding, starring Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney, is in development with Past Lives and Materialists director Celine Song attached to pen the script. According to Collider, while the project is still in very early stage at Sony Pictures, the studio has tapped Song as its screenwriter.
