Bill Hader and Daniel Zelman are developing an HBO series centered on Jim Jones and the infamous events at Jonestown.

This Jonestown project is separate from the series that “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan was developing at HBO in 2016. Leonardo DiCaprio previously executive produced docuseries “Jonestown” for Sundance TV in 2018. The actor/producer was later announced to lead MGM biopic “Jim Jones” in 2021.

Hader and Daniel Zelman ( Damages, Bloodline) are developing a drama about Jonestown, the site of the infamous 1978 massacre of more than 900 members of the Peoples Temple led by Jim Jones. Hader is also set to direct and could star in the project as well, should it go forward.
