The Ice Bucket Challenge is back. The challenge that splashed through social media in 2014 as people all over the world dumped buckets of ice water on their head to raise money and awareness for ALS ( Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) research is returning, but this time for a new cause.

Over a decade after the viral "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge," these college students sparked a new trend in support of mental health. Reactions are mixed.

But the goal was not only to raise awareness of ALS — also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, named after the legendary baseball player who was diagnosed with it in the 1930s — but also for participants to briefly feel the shock that mirrors some of the physical symptoms people with ALS may experience.
