Though the Google Play Store may have lost a significant number of apps since last year, Appfigures’ data shows Apple’s App Store making a small jump from 1.6 million to 1.64 million apps.

Google Play Store experienced a significant drop in available apps, decreasing by 47% since the start of 2024, due to Google's stricter policies and enforcement actions aimed at improving app safety.

In numbers, that means the Play Store has gone from around 3.4 million apps down to 1.8 million. That’s a 47% drop since the beginning of 2024, according to Appfigures.
