Virginia Giuffre's family said the 41-year-old, who had become an advocate for survivors of sex trafficking, died at her farm in Australia last week.

"Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking," her family said in a statement.

Virginia took her own life. Her family shared that despite years of resilience, "the weight of the violence she endured became unbearable" for Virginia. "We know she is now with the angels," they added in the heartfelt statement.
