Gavin Newsom (D) warned in a primetime address Tuesday amid President Donald Trump’s military response to the Los Angeles protests that this “assault” on democracy will spread across the country if Trump continues to go unchecked.

Protests against immigration enforcement raids have sprung up across the country from Seattle and Austin to Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Newsom dared Homan to make good on his threat. “Arrest me,” Newsom told MSNBC. “Let’s just get it over with, tough guy. I don’t give a damn … Tom, arrest me. Let’s go.”
