The Devils were third on the power play at a franchise-record 28.2% during the regular season, but went 0 for 2 in their 5-2 loss in Game 4 to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.

Frederik Andersen left the game after the Devils’ Timo Meier ran into him in the second period, but the Hurricanes survived and took a 3-1 series lead behind Andrei Svechnikov’s hat trick.

Devils ’ winger Timo Meier, in an attempt to cut-off a pass in the crease, ended up trucking Carolina goalie Frederik Andersen. Andersen fell flat back into the net, and play was stopped so a trainer could tend to the veteran goalie. Not long after, he left Game 4 during the second period with an undisclosed injury.
