Multiple people have died after a business jet slammed into homes in a San Diego military housing community just before 4 a.m. Thursday, spilling jet fuel down the street that ignited several cars, authorities said.

At least two people are dead and eight others were injured after a small plane crashed into the San Diego military housing neighborhood of Murphy Canyon early Thursday morning. At a news conference, San Diego Assistant Fire Chief Dan Eddy said they are still trying to confirm if the fatalities were people on board the plane.

A small plane crashed into the Murphy Canyon neighborhood, setting about 15 homes on fire as well as vehicles, and forcing evacuations along several blocks.
