This season, Theis was with the New Orleans Pelicans. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for cash and a second-round pick. After being traded, Theis was waived by the Thunder. Right now, the former Celtic doesn't have a home in the NBA.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have filled their final roster spot by waiving Daniel Theis and signing rookie Ajay Mitchell to a standard NBA contract. OKC acquired Theis from New Orleans Wednesday along with a 2031 second round draft pick for cash considerations. He’s now a free agent.
