Apple is no longer promising a 2024 launch date for its revamped CarPlay. This is good news, considering we’re now in 2025. However, it also presents a problem for many iPhone users, who were promised updated in-car software nearly three years ago.

Now that we’ve almost hit the second month of 2025, Apple has finally updated its CarPlay webpage to say it won’t be arriving in 2024. As noted by MacRumors, the 2024 timeframe for the first vehicles to support CarPlay 2 has been removed from the website without adding a new launch date.

Though Apple rarely misses self-imposed deadlines, it's done so with the next-generation CarPlay. The company originally teased the update back in 2022.

It's finally 2025 for Apple. The company admitted that it next-gen CarPlay, expected to land in 2024, has been delayed indefinitely.

Nearly a month into 2025, it appears that Apple has finally updated its CarPlay website to remove any mention of the update coming in 2024, confirming the delayed release. Apple is still working on CarPlay 2.0 though. The company told 9to5Mac that it's collaborating with "several automakers" on its next generation interface.
