Millions of Americans across the country are on alert for a severe weather outbreak as violent, long-track tornadoes with damaging winds of up to 80 mph and large hail are expected across the Midwest and South with the cross-country storm moving east.

A deadly storm will push toward the East Coast on Sunday after days of destruction from more than 60 tornadoes, wildfires and dust storms.

Three people were killed in Independence County and at least 29 others were injured across eight counties after a storm system tore through Arkansas overnight, officials said Tuesday. The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management said the numbers remain preliminary as damage assessments continue.

Arkansans are taking time this morning in parts of the state to check for damages and injuries following severe storms.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has reported 11 deaths in the state related to Friday’s storms. As of Saturday at around 10:30 a.m., MSHP has reported multiple deaths across the state that are connected to the severe weather systems that blew across the Midwest.
