New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a bill Monday to shield the identities of doctors who prescribe abortion medications, days after a doctor in the state was indicted for sending abortion pills to a pregnant minor in Louisiana.

The case opens a new front in the battle between states that ban abortion and states that support providing abortion anywhere in the country.

A New York doctor was indicted by a Louisiana grand jury for allegedly prescribing an abortion pill online in a state with one of the strictest abortion bans.
