The largely peaceful protests during the "No Kings Day" demonstration in downtown Los Angeles took an intense turn in the afternoon. Police ordered the crowd to disperse at about 4:15 p.m. PDT near Alameda Street and Temple Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division.

"No Kings" rallies brought demonstrators together, joining voices across the nation and region to protest what they call a growing threat of authoritarianism in American politics.

The ‘No Kings’ rally held outside of Highland Park City Hall on June 14 gathered 3,000 for a peaceful protest on Saturday, organizers said.

Police were notified by members of the public that an individual was concealing a firearm and walking along High Street. Officers identified the suspect and quickly conducted a pedestrian stop.

"This administration wants us to be scared, to stay at home, but we're here today to show them that Humboldt County does not bow to kings, authoritarians or fascists of any kind," Eureka Councilmember G.
