Part of Alaska cruise. A most gratifying first time visit. We were lucky enough to go with family and we all enjoyed it. Would certainly go again.Full review by Terry K

Hello, How much information is available in the park about the totem poles? Is the park wheel chair accessible? Do you know how much is a private taxi to the park and back? Thank you Rafi

There is quite a bit of history about Totem poles at the park. They even explain in a brochure about how the poles are carved, why each character goes in which order. The park ranger was very helpful. The park will not take more than an hour but you could spend time sitting on the beach and exploring. Its about a 20 minute drive each way. We sat and watched eagles. There is also a building where meetings would have occurred in the past. Unfortunately, the park would require a taxi or uber. You can go to the guest center/tourists center and they can help you. We rented a car so we did not have to do that. There is no gift shop at the park; however, the brochure that explains about the totems is free. Of course, there is a box where they accept donations.
How much time should we allow for Totem Bight State Historical Park. Would 1 hour be enough time to walk around and take pictures.

I don't think so- there is so much to learn about if you like history. I joined up with a tour group-they are so welcoming in Alaska and that took over an hour and then we explored on our own. There is also a nice gift shop and that took some time as well. Enjoy- still one of my favorite places ever been. :-)

Can you walk to the park from the cruise ship docking area?

Totem Bight State Historical Park is 10 miles North of Ketchikan. But there is a $2 bus that take you up, or you can catch a cab for about $40 bucks. ($2 is the new rate as of 2017)
