Maho beach is a great place to spend a day. Typical beautiful white sands and blue seas. Bring snorkel gear here for sure. You can swim beside sea turtles, manta rays and many other types of fish. Fu…Full review by jeffreylE2040PM

The majority of the best beaches are part of the national park which accounts for over two thirds of the island. Therefore, no hotels near these beaches. The Caneel Bay resort, which does have nice beaches was pretty much wiped out by the last hurricane and is not operational. So, as some other folks have said, you need to take a cab to the beaches (or rent a vehicle). That being said, the cabs are inexpensive and readily available as they are running between town and the beaches all the time. By cab I mean a large pick-up truck with several rows of seats in on the bed. So, they will be taking additional people. The beaches are really beautiful as they are in a natural setting. The water at the beaches is mostly calm on the north side of the island. Very safe for swimming. No waves to speak of. Several of the beaches have small concessions where you can buy drinks and food and rent paddle boards, chairs, etc. Check to be sure the beach you are going to has a concession open. Take a back pack or two that you can pack up sunblock, water, towels, fins and masks etc. Some resorts have beach chairs you can take to the beaches. Some also have fins and masks for guests. Cruze Bay is a delightful town with really good restaurants a quality shops. Would advise staying walking distance to Cruz Bay. A better answer would depend on the age of your kids.
