We did it in 4 days with no problem at all and we are not expert hikers. We left Nairobi on Day 1 and got back to Nairobi on Day 4 for lunch. Totally doable. If you are very stretched, you can do it in 3 days, because the 4th day there is almost no hike at all. However the 3rd day will be very long, especially because you have to drive all the way back to Nairobi. If you do it in 3 days, I recommend you don't plan doing anything the day after you go back to Nairobi! Definitely worth doing this with climbingmountkenya.
