Hi, the tickets can be bought together. To do the chateau and the other island will definitely take the best part of the day. Depends on the time you put in taking an interest.

Our accommodations were close to the port and we purchased our tickets at the port early in the morning for a mid/late afternoon ferry to Chateau d'If with no issues. We elected not to do the Frioul Islands since September 2016 was very warm. We spent our morning exploring Notre-Dame de la Garde by bus not a tour along with a petit train of Marseille which was wonderful! Enjoy!
