Is it possible to visit the site outside the visitor center opening hours? For example could I visit early in the morning at 8am?

Hi, the building is at the Derby Wharf and you are able to walk around outside before it's open.

How long is the tour and entry fee?
A:
The tour took about 1.5 hours. There was no fee, just needed to make a reservation at the NPS Visitor Center near the Peabody Essex Museum (next to the tall parking structure).

There are some special tours from time to time, such as the Narbonne House. The Custom House is open certain hours and is more of a self-guided place with rangers available to answer questions. I'd allow about 30-40 minutes if your a history buff and enjoy that stuff. Narbonne tour was about an hour.
