I just visited on a very wet day. Their website says: DOG-FRIENDLY Mayfield is dog-friendly! But please note, your furry friend must be kept on a leash at all times and guided by you. We provide doggy bowls at the Cafe, but you must bring your doggy bags.

Perhaps hire a car from Sydney. There are trains that run regularly to Katoomba and further on to Mount Victoria. There may be buses that run from there to Oberon.From Oberon possibly a taxi out to the gardens. My best advice would be to phone the Oberon information Centre. They are very helpful.
There are so many different aspects and colours in this garden that it caters for all times of the year. However I think that you should see the Autumn colours in May. Enjoy.
