we plan to stop by on out way up to New Paltz on a sat. afraid we won’t make the last 4 pm tour. anyone knows if we’d be able to walk around the grounds & see the mansion fr outside if we don’t do a tour? thnx!

If I were you, I would call them and ask that question since it’s based on what they have planned that specific day you arrive. Don’t feel too bad if you miss it. It’s nice but not a must see.
Are backpacks allowed and is there a place to leave them in the mansion?

On our tour no one asked to “check” their bag. Nearby at the Armour/Stiner Octagon House, however, purses, backpacks, etc. had to be locked in our cars.
