Carbon, Indiana

Carbon is a town in Van Buren Township, Clay County, Indiana, United States. The population was 397 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area. Carbon had its start by the building of the railroad through that territory. A post office was established at Carbon in 1870. It was named after the Carbon Coal Company.
