Hello and a good morning to the UK. About your question, you do not have to make any appointment to visit the castle. When arriving at the river side, you have space to park the car, and then you are going to the boat you will have to pay about 2.5€ pro person to bring you to the castile which will take about about 3 minutes, then you have to go uphill to the castle and on the entrance there is a person who will control your ticket from the boat, this because the price payed on the boat includes the entrance fee for the castle, and the boat leaves about every 20 minutes. So I hope this meets your question, have a nice trip to Portugal and also a save return, Hans & Lucy. Under need you have the time table for the visit. Horário do castelo – Time table: (Encerra à segunda-feira) – Closed om Mondays 1 Novembro a 28 Fevereiro: 10h às 13h – 14h30 às 17h30 (November til February) 1 Março a 31 Outubro: 10h às 13h – 14h30 às 19h30 (1 March til – 31 of Oktober) Preços – 2,5€ por pessoa – Entrance fee to pay in liquid on the boat pro person.
